We have set off now for Rhodesia on Operation Longtrek; It is June 1953 and Queen Elizabeth was crowned a few days ago. These shots are at Juba. The precious Jet Fuel that is going into our Venoms was shipped down the Nile for about 15 days on a river steamer and then came through the jungle, slung in 40 gallon drums, on poles, between natives, for a few more days!
My Venom "S" for Sugar had an unserviceable fuel gauge and it read Zero for the entire trip...I just assumed that I had as much as the guy with the least!
